| Anne Tiburtius |
I am Anne and I have the good fortune of being at the artistic and
sometimes chaotic helm of this lovely group of women. I would love to
show off and tell you how long I have been dancing for, but then that
would give my age away!! For many years in India, I had a lovely bharatanatyam
teacher, Uma, who not only taught me to dance, but also gave me a great love and
deep understanding of all aspects of this wonderful art form. I am deeply committed
to sharing the joy of performing with just about anyone who is interested, but I am
even more partial to having a Gin and Tonic with my best mate Annie!! |

Many years of ballet dancing engendered a real love of dance in me.
This, in combination with a passion for performing, particularly
expressed through the mad colour and vibrancy of India, makes
Natyapriya a perfect fit.
Barathanatyam is certainly challenging, but under the direction
of our fantastically talented guruji, my experience of it has
been thoroughly enjoyable and quite marvellous

From
age 3, I have danced ballet; modern (to the Cagney & Lacey theme
tune - best forgotten) and lyrical, and more recently samba, salsa, and
forro. In this Company I am privileged to not only do new and challenging
dance but have discovered a new love of drama. Who would have guessed
that being a tree; a cow; an elephant; part of a well, and in our latest
production a ´nice but dim´ god (see photo!) would bring someone so
much pleasure! I still maintain that I am a shy person but people don't
believe me. |

Hi I ´m maddy I am 10 years old, as the youngest of the group I try to do my best.
Natyapriya has given me a chance to be artistic. In my spare time I enjoy reading and writing, but at the moment
Indian dance is my main hobby.
After watching the group perform for a few years , my daughter maddy and I were given the
opportunity to join the group I ´m a keen runner, having completed 5 half marathons
and find that dance is also a great form of exercise. I love dressing up in the beautiful
costumes and enjoy the buzz before a production. |

I joined Natyapriya in 2000, and love being a member of this fun,
social and energetic dance group. I first became interested in Indian
dance when I spent half a year living in Calcutta. It has been wonderful
to find that the excitement and colour of India are here in Norfolk. I
also find I can indulge in my love for fabulous pink clothes in this very
mad dance group!

I have been dancing for 7 years (well, carrying flags for the first 5!) - I joined the group when I was 5.
I also do contemporary and African dance, and used to be a gymnast. I´m educated at home so I am with the
rest of my family most of the time. They get extremely annoyed with me dancing around the house and singing constantly!.

I was introduced to Natyapriya a few months after moving to Norwich and have not looked back since!
I love the dances, stories and performances we put together. I have previously performed in Jazz and
Tap shows but I have never had the opportunity to wear such fabulous and colourful costumes, or be part
of such sparkly and dramatic productions! I feel privileged to dance with such an amazing group of performers!

Hi! I´m Yan, I am from mainland China. As an ex Chinese folk dancer, I am
very passionate about trying different kinds of dances. Since I joined my
lovely guruji- Anne´s group, I´m totally amazed by Bharatanatyam. I feel
really miserable if I don´t dance every week. Dancing in this group is
one of the main activities in my life, and I believe bharatanatyam will
stay with me until I´m very very old !
