Natyapriya's latest project is an adaptation of 'Siddhartha' by Herman Hesse.
Hesse tells his version of the tale of Siddhartha, the brahmin's son, in three beautiful
and simple stages by combining his deep understanding of Eastern philospohy and his brand of magic.
Hesse describes the spiritual development of Siddartha, a man who finds peace by discarding all
doctrines and quest for knowledge and instead becoming 'one' with the unity of the world and eternity.
Time is not real. Life is not about right or wrong, pleasure or suffering. Everything is a unity and has
a constant flow.
Through great parts of his life, Siddartha seeks for his Self in order to destroy it and
find peace, only to discover that this is not the answer. Only when he realises that his self is also part
of the great unity, does he find true peace and contentment, where happiness and suffering are one, but where
love is the most important force of all.
Told against a backdrop of many spiritual experiments, a river and a wise old ferryman, the beautiful courtesan Kamala and Siddhartha's constant friend and companion Govinda, this is a story of a man's quest for knowledge, happiness and immortality.
Let Siddhartha work his magic on you at The Norwich Playhouse 7.30 pm Saturday the 1st July 2006. |
